Picking the Perfect Bedding

Bedding is sometimes the last piece of the room. For me, I like to pick it first and I base everything else from that. Patterns can be intimidating but can really bring some pop to your room. The key is to tone it down with solid colored blankets or sheets.

I found this fabulous patterned duvet cover at Pier 1 Imports and complimented it with a dark navy velvet quilt. Not only does it pull the dark tone but it adds a textural element. Paired with the classic white sheets and fluffy pillows, it makes me want to dive right in.

I used the light blue color from the duvet cover as an accent wall. The paint color is Sherwin Williams, Georgian Revival Blue SW 7609. I also added in a light blue colored rug to soften my dark wood floors. Don't be concerned with mixing patterns like I did with this rug. As long as the colors work together it will all flow.
